Lawn Care & Maintenance

Healthy, thick grass all year round — from regular mowing to full lawn renovation.

About this service

A great lawn doesn't happen by accident. Consistent mowing at the right height, seasonal feeding, aeration and scarification all play a role. We offer one-off treatments as well as ongoing maintenance contracts tailored to your lawn's specific needs and the local Hampshire soil conditions.

Regular Mowing & Edging

Mowing at the correct height for the season (not too short in summer) and crisp edge maintenance to keep borders defined and professional-looking.

Scarification

Removing the thatch layer of dead grass and moss that suffocates healthy growth — best done in autumn or spring depending on grass type.

Aeration

Hollow-tine or solid-tine aeration relieves compaction, improves drainage and lets nutrients reach the root zone — essential for Hampshire's clay-heavy soils.

Seasonal Fertilising

A spring high-nitrogen feed for growth and a autumn low-nitrogen feed for root strengthening, using slow-release granular fertilisers.

Weed & Moss Control

Selective herbicide treatments target broadleaf weeds and moss without harming grass — applied safely and in compliance with current regulations.

Overseeding & Repair

Bare patches, thin areas and wear zones are overseeded with matching grass cultivars, then topdressed with sandy loam to help germination.

Our process

A clear, professional approach on every project — so you know what to expect at every stage.

1

Lawn Assessment

We inspect your lawn for thatch depth, soil compaction, drainage issues, weed pressure and grass type to build an accurate treatment plan.

2

Treatment Programme Design

We recommend either a one-off renovation or an annual programme with scheduled visits for each treatment at the optimal time of year.

3

Treatments Carried Out

Each visit is planned around the season — scarification in autumn, aeration in spring, feeds timed to growth periods and weather.

4

Review & Adjust

After the first full season we review progress, adjust seed mixes or feed schedules if needed, and plan the following year's programme.

Common questions

Practical answers to the questions we hear most often about lawn care & maintenance.

How often should a lawn be mowed in summer?

In peak growing season (May–August) most Hampshire lawns benefit from mowing every one to two weeks. We never remove more than a third of the blade height in one cut.

When is the best time to scarify?

Early to mid autumn (September–October) is ideal — the grass can recover before winter. A lighter spring scarification can also be done in March if thatch is heavy.

My lawn is mostly moss — can it be saved?

Yes in almost all cases. We treat the moss, scarify it out, address the underlying cause (usually shade, compaction or poor drainage), then overseed. Recovery takes one growing season.
