Garden Clearance: Before & After in Totton

February 2025·4 min read

When the owners of a semi-detached property in Totton called us, their rear garden had not been touched in over three years. Brambles, ivy and self-seeded saplings had taken hold, and a broken fence left the plot open to the neighbouring field. Within 48 hours we had a blank canvas ready for the next stage.

The Challenge

The garden measured roughly 18 metres by 9 metres and was almost entirely covered in dense vegetation. A crumbling concrete path down the centre and a collapsing timber shed added to the workload.

  • Dense bramble covering two-thirds of the plot
  • Established ivy climbing the boundary walls
  • Three self-seeded silver birch saplings
  • Broken close-board fence panel on the eastern boundary
  • Rotted shed structure requiring full demolition
  • Cracked concrete path needing breaking up and removal

Our Approach

We began with hand clearance of the bramble and ivy before bringing in a mini-digger to strip the remaining ground cover and break up the concrete. All green waste was taken off-site and recycled at a local facility.

The Result

The finished clearance revealed a surprisingly level plot with good topsoil beneath. The owners went on to commission us for turfing and new fencing — a project we completed the following month.
