This Totton project was a straightforward but high-impact combination of new boundary fencing and decking replacement. The existing fencing had suffered storm damage in winter 2024 and the timber deck — over 15 years old — had become unsafe due to rot in the supporting frame. Both needed replacing before the summer.
The Fencing
We replaced 28 metres of boundary fencing on two sides of the garden. New concrete posts were installed with a post-hole borer, and new close-board panels fitted. The work took one full day and made an immediate difference to the garden's security and appearance.
- 28 metres of new close-board fencing
- New concrete fence posts throughout
- Gravel boards at the base to prevent ground contact
- New arris rails and featherboard on the longer run
- Pressure-treated timber for maximum longevity
The Decking
The replacement deck covered 18m² and was built from pressure-treated softwood decking boards on a new treated timber frame. We incorporated a small step down to lawn level and concealed the frame with matching fascia boards for a clean, finished look.
Completion
The entire project — fencing and decking — was completed in two working days, well within the homeowners' timeline before a planned garden party. The finished result gave the garden a completely refreshed feel.
